Social Work Services at the Fresco Institute

Providing multifaceted support for patients and families is part of what we do every day at the Marlene and Paolo Fresco Institute for Parkinson鈥檚 and Movement Disorders at 黑料福利社 Langone. Our social worker helps to make that happen.

As part of our patient-centered care model, the Fresco Institute offers integrated, Parkinson鈥檚 disease鈥搒pecific social work support for our patients and their families, with an on-site social worker who is part of the care team.

Our social worker has the experience and knowledge to help you, your loved ones, and your care partners adapt to the emotional, physical, and practical concerns of living with Parkinson鈥檚 disease. Our social worker can meet with you to develop support plans that fit your needs and be an ear for you to process how to cope with this condition. She can also provide disease-specific education and lead support groups for individuals managing Parkinson鈥檚 disease.

Our social worker also assists in the development of innovative educational and wellness programs for patients and families, either virtually or in the community.

Patients who receive care at the Fresco Institute can access our social work services.

Parkinson鈥檚 Disease Support Group

The Fresco Institute offers two support groups for patients living with Parkinson鈥檚 disease: one for women actively receiving care at our clinic and one for men.

Our social worker facilitates these monthly groups at no charge on the third Wednesday of every month. Before joining, an introductory call with the social worker is required to ensure the group is a good fit for your needs.

Social work support services are made possible through the generous support of the and the Paolo and Marlene Fresco Foundation.

Parkinson鈥檚 Disease Group Seminars

Various educational seminars and exercise programs are available to people living with Parkinson鈥檚 and their care partners. These events are open to the community, and you do not have to be a patient at our clinic to take advantage of these special programs.

Past events have included classes on Parkinson鈥檚 disease research, fall prevention, non-motor symptoms of Parkinson鈥檚 disease, and seated exercise.
