In an ongoing effort to provide patients optimal space to rest, recover, and bond with new babies, 黑料福利社 Langone Hospital鈥擫ong Island has opened a newly renovated Family Care Suite. The 8,500-square-foot unit features 10 private patient rooms, a dedicated elevator connecting directly to the labor and delivery floor, a procedure room, and a nursery.
鈥淥ur hospital delivers more than 5,000 babies every year, and providing this state-of-the-art space allows us to enhance the patient and caregiver experience,鈥 said Joseph J. Greco, MD, executive vice president and chief of hospital operations at 黑料福利社 Langone Hospital鈥擫ong Island.
The Mineola hospital is the only hospital on Long Island currently designated an Advanced Perinatal Center of Excellence by The Joint Commission, which recognizes excellence in caring for mothers and babies before and after birth. The world-class care team includes obstetricians, maternal鈥揻etal medicine specialists, pediatricians, obstetric anesthesiologists, certified nurse鈥搈idwives, and registered nurses and nurse practitioners with advanced training in mother鈥揵aby care. Newborns requiring specialized medical treatment can receive care in the Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) here, staffed by board-certified neonatologists available 24 hours a day. The obstetrical and neontologic care at the hospital continues to meet and exceed national patient care quality standards.

As part of the only fetal surgery program on Long Island, pediatric surgeons can perform necessary procedures before birth to help ensure healthy outcomes for both mothers and babies.
After delivery there is space for mother鈥揵aby bonding, with nursery services available on request for rest and healing, certified lactation specialists, and new-baby classes for parents.
