As part of Perlmutter Cancer Center, our experts at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÉç Langone’s Breast Cancer Center are leaders in research and collaborate with scientists around the world to develop the most innovative treatment options. We offer many , including trials for types of breast cancer that may be less responsive to standard therapies. We are accredited by the American College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a designation given for our high standards in breast cancer treatment.

Our breast cancer specialists provide preventive treatment for people who are at high risk of breast cancer. We also coordinate breast cancer care and services for women ages 45 and younger through our Early Onset Cancer Program. And we treat male breast cancer and more advanced types of breast cancer. When you come to us for treatment, we make your visit as convenient as possible. You can often see your doctor and receive diagnostic and treatment services, including breast imaging, biopsies, and genetic testing, on the same day and in the same location.

Integrated Approach to Breast Cancer Care

Our specialists take an integrated approach to address all aspects of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Through our high-risk screening program, we help identify specific genetic mutations, such as BRCA, and provide genetic counseling to manage risk and prevent breast cancer.

Our radiologists have developed novel MRI techniques that assess the chemical content of body tissues to help experts more accurately detect the presence of breast cancer. Our breast cancer surgeons were the first in New York City to use MarginProbe^®, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration–approved device, during breast-conserving surgery. Using electromagnetic waves, this device identifies leftover cancerous tissue, helping to avoid the need for additional surgery.

If you opt for breast reconstruction after breast-conserving or breast removal surgery, our experienced plastic surgeons offer the latest reconstructive techniques. Our doctors also work closely with reproductive medicine specialists at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÉç Langone’s Fertility Center and ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÉç Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York to offer options such as freezing unfertilized eggs or fertilized embryos, before your treatment begins.

For ongoing support during breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, we provide individual counseling and support groups. To help you recover from surgery, chemotherapy, and other treatments, we offer integrative health services, including massage therapy and acupuncture.

Pioneers in Breast Cancer Research

Our experts are at the forefront of research and the latest techniques to diagnose and treat breast cancer. We are a national leader in clinical trials and led an international clinical trial that found that women who have triple-negative breast cancer—one of the most aggressive types of breast cancer—had better outcomes if they received a combination of immunotherapy and chemotherapy compared with chemotherapy alone.

Our radiation oncologists have also pioneered the use of prone radiation therapy through clinical trials. This treatment allows for more precise targeting of the treatment dose to the breast while avoiding organs such as the heart and lungs.
